Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on court had led some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour championship, took control to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
